Mohamed Salah and Darwin Nunez scored as Liverpool beat Napoli 2-0 but finished second in the group stages, MySportDab reports.
First Half Report
The game started well enough for both teams who were already through into the next round but were playing for a chance to finish number one.
Liverpool came in the match stronger than they were in the first leg of the encounter which saw them being massacred by the Serie A side on that day.
Napoli weren’t too bad as they push forward causing a lot of havoc for the Premier League side who were able to deal with them neatly without any damages.
The scoreline did not change with them approaching the half hour mark which had them doing so much on the pitch but yet they couldn’t capitalize on all their opportunities.
The first half came to an end with Liverpool 0-0 Napoli which saw them holding each other to a draw after 45 minutes of football played between them.
Second Half Report
The second half started strongly for both teams who came in well organized and linking up nicely to make sure they score the opening goal of the game.
Napoli scored a goal in the 53rd minute of the game through Leo Ostigard, but unfortunately it was called off by VAR after a revive was carried out leaving the scoreline still goalless.
Liverpool carried on searching for something of their own which would see them take the lead but it did not come with the game entering 70th minute and counting.
Mohamed Salah scored in the 85th minute of the game to make sure his side took a 1-0 lead entering the final stages of the game which had them in total control after the goal scored.
Darwin Nunez made it 2-0 in the 90th minute plus additional which saw them cementing their victory for the night.
The match ended with Liverpool claiming a 2-0 victory against Napoli to level on points but couldn’t finish the group as number despite everything.
