Cesar Azpilicueta has extended his contract with Chelsea despite him nearing a move to Barcelona, MySportDab reports.

The defender was strongly linked with a move to Barcelona this summer after his representatives already held talks with a deal offered to the player.

Cesar Azpilicueta won’t be taking that offer to complete a move to Spain as he want to continue his career with Chelsea who did so much to make sure they keep him with them.

It hasn’t been so good for the Blues in the transfer window as they have been struggling to bring in new players ahead of the new season which is fast approaching.

Barcelona have made sure they didn’t succeed in making most of their moves happen as every player they had interests in signing, the Spanish were also heavily interested in going after.

Raphinha was heading to Chelsea after they reach an agreement with Leeds United to ensure a move happen, but it turned out to be a move that would go in the way of Barca who completed the deal instead.

They also had to go through a bid of war which also saw Barcelona winning the race to sign Jules Kounde from Sevilla despite the Premier League side already opening the way to complete a move.

Chelsea have been able to complete few signings which includes Raheem Sterling, Kalidou Koulibaly and Carney Chukwuemeka who are all already training with the rest of the team.

“Barcelona held talks with Chelsea about move but Todd Boehly has wanted to keep him since taking over & 32yo has now committed to Stamford Bridge @TheAthleticUK.
