A witness in the ongoing Chester Court trial of Manchester City defender Benjamin Mendy has shocked the court with her testimonies.
Recall that Mendy has been standing trial at Chester Crown Court over allegations of rape, sexual assault, and attempted rape.
Many witnesses have so far testified against the France international, revealing more graphic details of what transpired between them and Mendy.
A witness, whose name has been withheld on conditions of anonymity, shocked the court when she said she was forced to testify against Mendy.
“I felt the word ‘rape’ meant like a stranger or in an alleyway,” the lady claimed.
“But he was my friend, and it was his house.”
The witness was 22 at the time of the incidence and has been said to be one of the three women that Mendy assaulted at his house in Mottram St. Andrew, Cheshire, at a pool party
The woman had initially informed the Police that she did not want to be involved in the case, that she somehow felt dragged into the case by the Police
“I felt I was being dragged into the situation.”
So far in Mendy’s trial, no witness has countered the allegations against Mendy, and she is the first to take a different path.
Mendy faces the likelihood of encountering a prison sentence if convicted. He can also face life imprisonment depending on the decision of the Jury.
He is currently on suspension from Manchester City, pending the trial’s outcome.
Mendy’s prosecutors have described him as a predator who hunts women for sex just for the fun of it.
