Spanish giants Barcelona have issued an ultimatum to Frenkie De Jong to decide his fate in the club, MySportDab reports.
The Blaugrana have clarified their intentions to the former Ajax player and Ditch international.
Xavi and Laporta are not mincing words. They have told De Jong to take a stand concerning his future with the Catalans.
They have asked him to answer immediately to the call to have his wage slashed if he wants to stay at Camp Nou.
The highly rated Durch midfielder has two options on his table from the Catalans – either to take a pay cut or leave the club.
De Jong has continuously insisted that he wants to stay at Camp Nou despite interest from Man United and Chelsea.
New Man United manager Erik Ten Hag has identified De Jong as one of his top target and has intended to restructure the United squad around the Dutch international.
Despite interest from United, De Jong has remained unmoved as he prefers to stay in Barcelona. He has accepted negotiations for a pay cut.
However, it is still unclear whether he will accept a pay cut from the Catalans or not. The Blaugrana reportedly owes him about £17m.
Chelsea has joined the race to sign Frenkie De Jong after Man United has reportedly reached an agreement for the player.
This puts Barcelona in a more advantaged position to negotiate a better offer from the potential suitors
