It was a chaotic scene with Liverpool which resulted in the exchange of blame between the Liverpool management and the match organisers.

The French government were also fingered in the crisis, with Liverpool blaming them for poor organisation and preparations.

The French government, on the other hand, blamed the Liverpool fans for the fracas.

They accused the fans of taking desperate measures to force their way into the stadium with fake tickets.

The pandemonium resulted in a brief delay of the match by 30 minutes as the organisers tried to put the situation under control.

Amid accusations and counter-accusations, the French government established an independent enquiry into the incident.

A detailed report by the enquiry panel has unravelled the mysteries behind what actually occurred during the build-up to the match.

According to a French inquiry, the crisis was a result of errors was stemmed from the organising body for the match.

The inquiry reversed the blame on Liverpool’s hands, heaping it on the administrative errors and failings.

Inevitable mistakes which proved dysfunctional to the organising process were spotted based on the report.

The report, which was titled Champions League Final: An Unavoidable Fiasco, identified some of the sundry causes for the outburst.

The use of digital tickets, which sell on the night, the use of anti-terror to screen fans, and tear-gasing supporters, as some of the causes of the crisis.

The French Interior minister Gerald Darmanin was particularly criticised in the report for his blame on Liverpool fans.

“It is unfair to have sought to blame supporters of the Liverpool team for the disturbances, as the interior minister has done, to deflect attention from the state’s inability to properly manage the crowd and suppress the action of several hundred violent and organised delinquents.”

Liverpool lost the match to a more experienced Real Madrid side who won their record 14th Uefa Champions League title.
