Chelsea are now ready to submit an offer to sign Barcelona midfielder Frenkie De Jong, MySportDab reports.

Frenkie de Jong has come close to signing for Manchester United over the past few weeks but it has not been completed yet.

Manchester United and Barcelona have reached an agreement for the player but he is still refusing to leave this summer.

This is the main reason the deal has not yet been completed and now Chelsea could hijack the transfer from the Red Devils.

According to Spanish Newspaper Sport, De Jong is not interested in signing for Manchester United for various reasons and Chelsea are ready to hijack the deal.

One of the issues is the £17m in deferred wages and bonuses that Barcelona owe the midfielder.

Now, Sport believes De Jong has would rather head to Chelsea should he leave Barcelona for the Premier League.

De Jong does not want to leave but Barca must get him off the wage bill in order to register their new signings such as Lewandowski, Raphinha, Kessie and Christensen.

Barcelona has made it clear they want De Jong gone and he’s been the main target for Manchester United this summer.

United’s chiefs Richard Arnold and John Murtough were recently spotted in the Spanish city trying to get the deal done.

But Sport claims the player has zero interest in leaving for Manchester United this summer.

He is also concerned about how United function, and their management of players.

A third reason he does not want to join United is that they won’t play in the Champions League next season.

Chelsea will play in the Champions League and they can use that convince the player to make that switch.

However, Manchester United won’t give up on signing the 25-year-old midfielder until the transfer window closes.
