The Nigeria Super Eagles 2022 Africa Cup Of Nations Qualifiers fixture against Sierra Leone will be played behind closed doors, MySportDab reports.

The development was confirmed by the Nigerian Football Federation who stated that the game will be played without fans on the stands.

The body also reveal that the game against the Sierra Leon national team will be played at the MKO Abiola Stadium in Abuja.

The General Secretary of the NFF confirmed that the decision to restrict the fans from the stands is due to the one-match ban on the Super Eagles.

Recall that world football’s governing body, FIFA had placed a one-match ban on the Super Eagles of Nigeria following the fracas that broke out at the stadium during the World Cup qualifiers.

Nigeria had engaged the Black Stars of Ghana in a two legged World Cup Qualifiers which ended in a 0-0 draw in Ghana.

TR second leg of the March which was played in Nigeria ended in an outbreak of of crisis after the Super Eagles played a 1-1 draw with the Black Stars of Ghana.

The Super Eagles fail to qualify for the World Cup after the game on away goals rule after a 1-1 aggregate score.

Angry fans invaded the stadium in their numbers resulting in the death of one of the officials in the match.

FIFA placed a one match ban on Nigerian football fans meaning that Thursday clash against Sierra Leone will be played behind closed doors.

The match will be Nigeria’s first game as the Super Eagles attempt to qualify for the next edition of the African Cup Of Nations.
