Manchester United are now seriously considering a £50m summer bid for Leeds United midfielder Kalvin Phillips, MySportDab reports.

The central midfielder has grown into a key player for both club and country in English football.

He impressed for England as they reached Euro 2020 final last year and remains linked with a move away.

This summer, Manchester United want to bring in a new player in midfield, with Pogba, Lingard, and Matic set to leave.

According to The Athletic, Manchester United are now monitoring the 26-year-old closely.

Phillips has not impressed much for Leeds in the Premier League this season as they battle relegation after a tough season.

But, United are still impressed by his ability to play and dominate possession in midfield.

The Red Devils have not yet made any formal approach to Leeds United for the player.

Man Utd new Coach Erik ten Hag will arrive at the club when the season ends and will decide mostly on any transfer deal.

However, there is a big problem that could affect any possible deal to Manchester United for Phillips.

The issue is that Phillips and his family grew up as big time Leeds United fans, which could make a move to Manchester United difficult.

Manchester United and Leeds have a fierce rivalry from way back in the 1990s.

Matches between both clubs are now regarded as ‘the Roses derby’, derived from the historical conflicts.

Leeds United Legend Alan Smith promised fans he would never join United, before eventually joining the Red Devils in 2004.

Kalvin Phillips’ team-mate Patrick Bamford once spoke about him leaving Leeds for United before a recent match between both clubs.

He said: “Every member of his family hate United.

“They might be telling him, “Make sure you prove to them how big and crucial this game is.”

Phillips has a contract at Leeds United until 2024 but he is not earning much at the club and there is no current extension talks.
