Chelsea showed class as they beat Real Madrid 2-3 but crashed out 5-4 on aggregate, MySportDab reports.
First Half Report
Few opportunities were seen in the first half of the encounter which saw the Blues getting the job done after 45 minutes.
Real Madrid held on fine in the first 10 minutes of the game which saw both teams playing calmly and hoping to break and score which didn’t happen.
Chelsea took the lead in the 15th minute of the match through a good finish from Mason Mount who made it 0-1 as it carried on.
The first half progressed further with nothing to show for both teams who did everything possible but no goal was recorded.
The first half ended with Real Madrid 0-1 Chelsea as they both headed inside for the break after 45 minutes played at Santiago.
Second Half Report
The second half had so much come from both teams who were excellent in all their dealing going forward and defending.
Antonio Rudiger scored in the 51st minute which extended the lead for Chelsea to 0-2 as the match pushed on further.
It was looking good as Real Madrid couldn’t hold off the play with Marcos Alonso adding another goal which unfortunately was claimed as a handball by VAR.
Timo Werner scored with an outstanding finish beating two defenders which made the scoreline 0-3 in the 75th minute of the game.
It was looking good for the Premier League side until Rodrygo scored in the 80th minute to make the scoreline 1-3 as it carried on.
The second half ended with Real Madrid 1-3 Chelsea as they both went inside for the break preparing for extra time.
Extra Time Report
The extra time was the deciding point for the encounter which saw the home side scoring in the 96th minute through Karim Benzema to make it 2-3.
That goal was the last thing to happen in the match which saw it end with Real Madrid 2-3 Chelsea after 120 minutes as the Champions crash out 5-4.
