Real Madrid Target Joe Gomez Amid Rudiger’s Link (DETAILS)

Real Madrid are monitoring Liverpool defender Joe Gomez ahead of a potential move next summer.

Although it is clear the first priority is their attack with Kylian Mbappe firmly in their sights but they are also lining up a list of defensive options.

The 24-year old Joe Gomez is returning to full fitness after a series of injuries, he captained Liverpool against Norwich City in the Carabao Cup and was a late substitute in Sunday’s 2-2 draw at Tottenham.

Though he has been linked with a move to Aston Villa, MySportDab understands that is not an option as it stands, as manager Jurgen Klopp insisted last week that he would be patient with Gomez and had no plans for him to leave in January.

The England international, who has won the Premier League and Champions League, is expected to feature more in the few weeks to come as fixtures and Covid continue to stretch Liverpool’s squad to the maximum.

Gomez will be keen to finish the season strongly before taking stock of his future.

Liverpool are willing to sell Nat Phillips for £15million next month in the knowledge they have Gomez coming back to full fitness and have Ibrahima Konate competing with Joel Matip and Virgil van Dijk.

The Dutch defender, who missed Sunday’s game with Covid, said last week that he expects Gomez and Konate to be Liverpool’s defensive partnership of the future.

However, Carlo Ancelotti and Real Madrid’s interest could threaten that prospect if Gomez impresses them in the second half of the season.

The Spaniards have discussed the likes of Chelsea’s Antonio Rudiger who could be out of contract if he fails to agree new terms at Stamford Bridge

They also have on their list, Jules Kounde at Sevilla and Pau Torres at Villarreal as potential alternatives.
