Aston Villa are set to announce Steven Gerrard as their new manager following the sacking of Dean Smith, MySportDab reports.

The Premier League side already approached the Rangers manager who is keen on taking over the job gollowing the sacking of Dean Smith.

Steven Gerrard was seen arriving at a train station in London which is where Villa chief executive Christian Purslow is based, ahead of expected talks happened earlier today.

The 41-year-old will take his current first-team coach Michael Beale with him from Rangers as he wants to continue working alongside him at Villa.

This could be the next big thing for the former Liverpool player who is tipped to someday manager the club he once played for during his active time playing.

He helped win a first Scottish Premiership title for Rangers in nine years last season, ending a long spell of Celtic dominance in the League.

Steven Gerrard and his players finished a staggering 25 points ahead of their rival Celtic, conceding just 13 goals in the league and amassing a club record 102 points.

He is now looking to make a move to the Premier League to manage his first club which is something that has been expected of him to do.

Although, Aston Villa won’t be an east job for him to handle as they have been struggling since the sale of Jack Grealish.

Steven Gerrard have a handful to deal with if he becomes the manager of the club as his task will be to make sure they finish the season well.

Dean Smith who did a perfect job for them last season couldn’t continue with the same form despite the money invested from the sale of their former Captain to Manchester City.

Steven Gerrard will be tasked to turn things around as their season has been very poor since the beginning of 2021-22.
