Goals coming from De Jong alongside Memphis Depay and Coutinho ensured Barcelona beat Villarreal 1-3, MySportDab reports.
First Half Report
A good first half between the two teams who had so much to offer going forward in the tactical game which was also evenly balanced.
Villarreal was solid in making sure their defending wasn’t that bad as the pressure was all on them against the side who have a club Legend as their manager.
It was looking all good for Barcelona who dominated things going forward while causing so much trouble for their opponent who dealt with them struggling.
Both teams could have scored a goal in the first half which failed to come despite the number of opportunities created as the encounter carried on further.
The first half didn’t provide any more talking points as it ended with Villarreal 0-0 Barcelona as they both headed inside for the break with a goalless scoreline.
Second Half Report
The second half was interesting between both teams who managed to find the back of the net as the goals were set loosed under 45 minutes.
Barcelona took the lead in the 48th minute of the second half thanks to Frenkie de Jong who smashed one beating the goalkeeper to make it 0-1.
Villarreal wasted no much time in pulling themselves back in the match as Samuel Chukwueze scored in the 76th minute which made the scoreline 1-1 as it progressed.
The visitors pushed further until they took back their lead with a goal from Memphis Depay in the 88th minute which was a stunner for the Netherlands forward to make it 1-2 for his side.
A late penalty goal from Philippe Coutinho made the scoreline 1-3 as the Brazilian finished off from the spot to seal off things for his side.
The match ended with Barcelona claiming a 1-3 win against Villarreal which gave Xavi Hernandes another win in the bag as manager of the club.
