Bayern Munich are now ready to offer Chelsea defender Antonio Rudiger double his current salary at the Premier League club, MySportDab reports.

However, the German defender would likely to stay with Chelsea if possible.

The 28-year-old is now in the final year of his contract at Chelsea but has yet to agree a new contract.

The lack of progress in new contract talks has led to speculations of him joining Bayern Munich.

According to German Newspaper BILD, Bayern have already contacted Rudiger’s agent to start talks on a pre-contract agreement.

MySportDab understands that Bayern can agree to pay the £10million (€12m) per year wages the Germany player wants.

That figure is double the £5m Rudiger currently earns in west London.

However, the centre-back would prefer to stay because he feels at home in London.

Rudiger currently earns around £100,000 per week at Chelsea.

The likes of full-backs Cesar Azpilicueta and Ben Chilwell earn more than him on £150,000 and £190,000-per-week respectively.

But, a move to Bayern would see him earn the £10m per year pay packet, and become their eighth best-paid player in the Bundesliga.

Rudiger is free to talk to foreign clubs when the January transfer window opens on January 1st 2022, if he does not sign a new contract extension.

Last week, the Germany centre-back insisted that he ‘owes’ it to the Blues to not talk about the future.

‘For now I am focused only on what is happening right now. I owe that to the club and everyone at Chelsea,’ Rudiger said on international duty with Germany.

Asked on a potential return to the Germany Bundesliga, Rudiger said: ‘I’m only focused on Chelsea. Anything can happen.’

Antonio Rudiger has developed into a top quality centre back since Thomas Tuchel’s arrival at Chelsea and played a key role in their Champions League success.

His contract standoff has attracted interest from clubs like Real Madrid, Paris Saint-Germain, Juventus, and Manchester City.
