Argentina and Barcelona striker Sergio Aguero was forced off after he had complained of dizziness against Alaves, MySportDab reports.
The 33-year-old forward laid flat on the pitch in the 40th minute of the game requiring the help of the medical staffs to get him off.
Fans got worried in the stadium as the medical team arrived on the pitch to check on Aguero.
The Argentine placed his hand on his chest before going down.
“I heard it was dizziness, he was uncomforble”, Sergi Barjuan, Barca’s caretaker coach said.
“I don’t know anything much about his condition, I also heard he was taken straight to the hospital.”
Aguero was replaced by Coutinho in the first half of thier draw against Alaves with Memphis Depay ensuring the Catalans secure a point.
Aguero was then taken to hospital for some precautionary tests to find out why he was struggling to breathe.
The 33-year-old’s condition has improved but his heart-rate was significantly higher than normal.
Barcelona have now released a statement regarding Aguero’s situation.
The Statement on Barcelona’s official website read:
“Sergio Aguero had a struggle with chest pain for most parts of the first half and got replaced by Philippe Coutinho at half time.
“He was later taken to hospital for a cardiologic analysis.”
