Barcelona and AC Mian are now both frontrunners with plans to sign Manchester United midfielder Jesse Lingard, MySportDab reports.

The two clubs want to sign Lingard when he leaves Manchester United as a free agent next summer.

Lingard recently yet again rejected the new contract offer from United so he could consider his options on his future.

The 28-year-old wanted to see how much playing time he would get from Ole Gunnar Solskjaer after United signed Cristiano Ronaldo and Jadon Sancho.

Lingard spent half of last season on loan at West Ham United.

However, Lingard has only started one match for Manchester United this season in the Carabao Cup match against West Ham.

He has spent more time playing on the pitch for his country than for his club.

Lingard wants to improve his chances of being named in Gareth Southgate’s squad for the 2022 World Cup aftermissing out at the Euros.

He is now more likely to see out the rest of his contract until June and leave on a free transfer, ending his 20 years stay at United.

Solskjaer wants Lingard to stay and United could still make an improved offer over the next coming weeks.

However, the final decision is left for Jesse Lingard.

He can begin talks with foreign clubs from January 1st.

Barcelona and Milan are both determined to sign him as a free agent.
