Former Chelsea midfielder Michael Ballack’s son, Emilio Ballack, has now died at the age of 18, MySportDab reports.
He was crushed by a quad-bike near the family’s house in Portugal.
The 18-year-old died after the accident at 2am on Thursday at the family’s house, near Troia, south of the Portugal capital, Lisbon.
According to Police, the teenager was riding on an uneven piece of land when the quad rolled backwards and fell on him.
Firefighters immediately arrived at the wreck site and medical officials tried to safe him.
However, the medics could not revive him and he was confirmed dead at the crash site.
A police officer said: ‘The accident took place at the family home. He was not on a public road and he is the only one involved.’
MySportDab understands that he lost control of the vehicle during the manoeuvre out of the family house.
His grandmother raised the alarm and an ambulance was called immediately.
The teenager’s body is now at the Institute of Forensic Medicine in Santiago de Cacem for a post-mortem.
His father, Michael Ballack has not yet to make any comment.
Emilio was the one of Ballack’s three children to then his former girlfriend Simone Lambe.
Louis Ballack, born in 2001 is the eldest child, and Jordi is the youngest child, born in 2005.
