Argentina made it through to the Copa America final after beating Colombia 3-2 on penalties as they played out a 1-1 draw, MySportDab reports.
First Half Report
The first half was all about the home team who had everything going their way including getting an important goal while pushing forward.
Lautaro Martinez gave Argentina an early lead in the 7th minutes after teaming up with Lionel Messi to make it 1-0 from a beautiful finish.
Colombia had some good opportunities of their own which they couldn’t make it happen despite all their efforts going forward on goal.
Both teams carried on with the game as the chances reduced and the pace of the encounter slowed down which saw it entering the last few minutes of play.
The first half ended with Argentina 1-0 Colombia as they both headed for the break with the advantage over to the home team.
Second Half Report
The second half wasn’t that bad as the away side also had their own fair share of the encounter which played out in their favor.
Colombia continued to press hard in making sure they are able to make a comeback which proved difficult to happen as the game progressed.
Argentina had things going their way until the Colombians pulled back level in the 61st minutes through Luis Diaz to make the scoreline 1-1.
More opportunities went begging but none could be converted as they both continued to push forward hoping to take the much needed lead.
Nothing could separate them as the second half ended with Argentina 1-1 Colombia as they both headed straight to penalties.
The penalties weren’t that long with Lionel Messi and Juan Cuadrado both scoring the first spot kicks as Rodrigo De Paul and Sanchez both missed.
Yerri Mina and Edwin Cardona both missed for their side as the penalties ended with Argentina 3-2 Colombia which saw the home side setting up a Copa America final against Brazil.
