Lionel Messi was on target again, scoring in his sixth consecutive match for Inter Miami as they defeat Philadelphia Union to qualify for Leagues Cup Final, MySportDab reports.

First Half Report

It was Inter Miami’s best game so far since Lionel Messi made his debut for the club.

 

The Florida-based MLS franchise started the game on the front foot and were inevitably heading to a win with a more dominant display.

Their precision and accuracy on the attack was phenomenal as they only missed only one shot out of five.

All four attempts out of the five attempt on Philadelphia Union’s goalpost was a goal with Lionel Messi scoring his 9th goal for the club.

Martinez opened the scoring for Inter Miami just three minutes into the game before Lionel Messi doubled the lead in the 20th minute.

Before the first half break, new signing from Barcelona, Jordi Alba, recorded his first goal for Inter Miami, scoring in the stoppage-time of first half to put the game beyond Philadelphia Union as the away side raced into a 3-0 lead.

Second Half Report

Inter Miami continued dominating proceedings in the second half despite leading by three goals but Philadelphia Union gave a more impressive performance than the first half.

The home side matched Inter Miami’s pace and press and had some chances to reduce the deficit but had to wait until the 73rd minute when Bedoya scored a lifeline goal to restore comeback hopes.

Philadelphia Union made late efforts to come back into the game but could not make anything happen again.

Late in the 83rd minute, Ruiz of Inter Miami dealt final blow to Philadelphia Union’s comeback hopes, scoring to make it 4-1 to seal the win.

Inter Miami ran out with a 4-1 win after the final whistle to qualify for their first ever Leagues Cup final with Lionel Messi scoring his 9th goal in 6 consecutive matches for the club.
