Manchester City Striker Sergio Aguero tried to score a penalty against Chelsea using the Panenka style but failed, MySportDab reports.

Aguero has now apologised after his penalty miss vs Chelsea at the Etihad stadium on Saturday.

Manchester City had the chance to win the Premier League title if they defeated Chelsea but Aguero’s penalty miss came back to haunt them.

Two goals from Hakim Ziyech, and Marcos Alonso in the 2nd half ensured that Chelsea won the match 2-1.

Raheem Sterling gave City the lead just before half time, and moments later Aguero could have made it 2-0 but instead he tried something fancy.

Aguero played the penalty with the Panenka technique and goalkeeper Edouard Mendy saved it comfortably.

Fans and pundits criticised Aguero for his miss, and he has now apologised on his Instagram story after the match.

His wrote: ‘I want to apologise to my team-mates, staffs and fans for the penalty miss.

‘It was clearly a bad idea and i am fully responsible.’

Despite the 2-1 loss to Chelsea, Coach Pep Guardiola still backed Aguero.

Guardiola told Sky Sports: ‘I have told him before, make a decision and made sure you are convinced, so he tried that and I have nothing more to say.

‘We will work on scoring our penalty next time.’
