Manchester United midfielder Bruno Fernandes has demanded that his team-mates become more ruthless to win trophies, MySportDab reports.
United strengthened their grip on a second place finish this weekend after a 2-1 Comeback win against Brighton.
However, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s team are currently 14 points behind rivals Manchester City at the top.
United are still yet to win silverware under Ole Gunnar Solksjaer since he was appointed.
United crashed out of the Carabao Cup semi-finals to Manchester City in January.
Also, United lost in the FA Cup quarter-finals to Leicester City after a poor performance.
Now, Fernandes has revealed that reaching semi-finals or Quarter-final is not enough for Manchester United ahead of next season.
‘We need to win more games,’ Fernandes told FourFourTwo.
‘We tend to drop unnecessary points at home right now, but we are currently second, and at the start of the season most people did not believe United would be second.
‘After a bad season start, nobody said United could be top of the table, but we ignored the criticism and remained focused.
‘We were confident that things would improve, and it did. We must always be the best United we can.
‘Even though the Premier League is out of United’s reach, winning the Europa League is still possible as we have a favourable draw against Granada in the quarter-finals.’
Another cup exit will not be enough for Fernandes, who has insisted that they must go all the way to meet the levels expected of United.
Asked Why Manchester United Need to win Trophies, Fernandes said: ‘That is the only thing we think about at this club.
‘United are determined to win trophies and the whole plan is for that. We reached League Cup semis and lost to City, but it’s not enough. It was not our time, we must be in finals, and win them.’
This isn’t the first time Fernandes has demanded for his Manchester United team-mates to improve.
