Sokratis Turned Down Liverpool To Join Olympiacos!

Liverpool made inquires about the signing of Sokratis Papastathopoulos which he turned down and join Olympiacos, MySportDab reports.

The Greece international contract with the Gunners was terminated and the Reds were looking into the possibility of bringing him to Anfield which he refused.

Sokratis Papastathopoulos just completed his  move to Olympiacos despite interest from Liverpool.

Jurgen Klopp coached the player during his days with Borussia Dortmund and he was looking to reunite with him once again.

Ex-Arsenal star under consideration at Anfield with the Red lacking much power at their Defense with Van Dijk still out injured.

Liverpool have made contact with Sokratis Papastathopoulos following his departure from Arsenal, according to report The Athletic.

The Reds checked in with the 32-year-old, who was released by the Gunners last week, to discuss his situation amid a lack of defensive options at Anfield but he turned down the deal.

However, Sokratis has joined Olympiacos instead of Liverpool as he have more chance to play regular with them.

Meaning the former Borussia Dortmund star won’t be reuniting with Jurgen Klopp on Merseyside.

The former Arsenal man has signed a two year deal which will see him remain until 2023 before he can leave or retire.
