RB Leipzig Defender Dayot Upamecano has responded amid reports of a transfer to Manchester United, MySportDab reports.

According to reports, Coach Ole Gunnar Solskjaer made the RB Leipzig man his No 1 defence target after failed plans to sign Jadon Sancho.

United are ready to wait until next summer and try again to Sancho after talks with Borussia Dortmund failed to progress.

Coach Ole Gunnar Solskajer is now focused on finding a new defender partner for Harry Maguire.

Dayot Upamecano has been chosen as the right player for the job and the Red Devils are drawing up plans for a bid.

However, Upamecano signed a new contract with RB Leipzig in June which is a key factor.

“I already extended my contract with RB Leipzig because I am good with my team-mates,” Upamecano said.

“My coach has given me confidence. He’s also learning, but he gives me the confidence and it helps me to improve.

“I’ve been at Leipzig for over three years, I feel very good. I have talked to some clubs, it’s true, but I’m not rushing.

“We’ll see what happens.”

Upamecano’s value rose as after he helped RB Leipzig reach the Champions League semi-finals.

The Frenchman produced a great performance in the quarter-finals against Atletico Madrid striker Diego Costa.

“Yes, when you play in the Champions League semi-final, a lot can chang, especially because it was RB Leipzig’s first semi-final final. We made history,” he added.

“When we were in Portugal, I did not pay attention to what happened outside until the end.”

Dayot Upamecano could have been available for just £54m this summer but he’s new contract has scrapped that release clause.
