Manchester City Coach Pep Guardiola is confident that they will play in the Champions League next season despite facing a UEFA ban, MySportDab reports.
The Ethiad club are set to discover their European fate on Monday after an appeal to the Court of Arbitration of Sport (CAS).
In February, Manchester City were banned from all European competitions for two years by UEFA for breaching Financial Fair Play rules.
The Citizens appealed against the ban, which included a €30m (£27m) fine and a three-day hearing was conducted by the CAS in Switzerland and over video call in May.
Speaking about the ban on Friday, Guardiola is confident the decision will be overturned.
‘I’m very confident because I have seen the arguments of the club and next season we will be in the Champions League,’ Guardiola said.
Should the European ban be upheld, City will need to convince their star players, like Kevin De Bruyne, to stay at the Etihad Stadium despite risking two years without European football.
They will also lose revenues from the Champions League.
If City are banned, Any club that finishes in fifth in the Premier League will play in the Champions League next season.
Manchester United are currently fifth place, one point behind Leicester City and Chelsea.
However, Manchester City were discovered by UEFA to have committed ‘breaches’ of the FFP rules between 2012 and 2016.
Both UEFA and Manchester City have declined to comment.
