Juventus Coach Maurizio Sarri has revealed that Cristiano Ronaldo was relieved after he finally scored a free-kick for the club after almost two years, MySportDab reports.

The 35-year-old scored from a freekick as Juventus thrashed Torino on Saturday to move closer in securing the Serie A title.

Ronaldo has led Juventus right from the start this season, and he’s scored or provided an assist in each of the last 16 matches.

The last time he scored from a dead-ball situation outside the penalty box for Juventus was in pre-season against Inter Milan.

The Portugal international used to score free-kicks frequently for Manchester United and Real Madrid during his time at both clubs.

But he has been forced to wait for almost two years before finally scoring.

However, Coach Maurizio Sarri has admitted that Cristiano Ronaldo was pleased.

He said: ‘I honestly did not believe that it was bothering him, but at the end, he said “At last!”‘

‘We all knew that it won’t be an easy game, but we scored early and doubled our lead minutes later,’ Sarri added.

Ronaldo himself confessed the stunning strike helped reduce the pressure on his shoulders, having tried to score from the majority of Juventus’ free-kicks since.

‘I needed free-kick goal to get my confidence back,’ Ronaldo said.

Cristiano Ronaldo did set yet another record, as he became the first Juventus player to score 25 goals in a Serie A season in 59 years.
