Manchester United have failed in their plans to extend Striker Odion Ighalo loan deal until the end of the season, MySportDab reports.

According to The Sun, Odion Ighalo will now return to Shanghai Shenhua after the end of his loan deal.

Ighalo excited Manchester United fans during his time at Old Trafford.

The Nigerian signed a loan deal back in January after United failed to sign any of other top targets.

The 30-year-old scored four goals in eight matches and provided an assist during his Old Trafford career.

Manchester United were in talks with Shanghai Shenhua to extend his loan deal on Sunday night.

However, MySportDab reports that no agreement was reached between his Chinese Club and Manchester united.

Ighalo wanted to stay in Manchester, but Shenhua want him to sign a new deal before they would let him extend his United say.

MySportDab can confirm that he has been offered a new contract worth £400,000-per-week.

The Red Devils wanted to make his loan spell permanent, but Shanghai Shenhua requested £20million.

However, Coach Ole Gunnar Solskjaer wanted to keep Ighalo at Old Trafford and revealed that last week.

He said: “The loan deal was due to expire at the end of May now, so he’s supposed to return back.

“We’re in talks. They’ve been nice for us, his club, and allow him to play for his dream team.

“It’s been a dream come true for him and we hope he can finish what he started, maybe with a trophy for us.

“Right now, nothing has been agreed. The league is going to restart soon so we’re waiting to see.”

Now, Manchester United are turning their attentions to Borussia Dortmund Star Jadon Sancho and Kai Havertz.
