Borussia Dortmund Winger Jadon Sancho has admitted that England have “a good chance” of winning the Euro 2020 tournament this summer, MySportDab reports.
Sancho has risen to fame in recent years, and linked with a transfer to some of the Premier League’s biggest clubs this summer, including Liverpool, Manchester United and Chelsea.
MySportDab understands Sancho is expected to be named in Gareth Southgate’s squad for Euro 2020, after his excellent performances in the German Bundesliga with Borussia Dortmund.
The 19-year-old signed for Dortmund in August 2017 from Manchester City, and has impressed ever since.
Since leaving Manchester City, Sancho has played 11 matches for and scored two goals.
The winger has now revealed that playing all three group stage matches at Wembley will be a huge boost to England’s chances of winning the competition.
Asked if he was looking forward to the European Championships, Sancho told Bundesliga.com: “Hopefully, if I am picked! That’s the main thing now.
“I would love to be picked. It would be my first major competition with England, and doing that at my age would be a great feeling for me and my family.
“It would be a great achievement for me, so I can’t wait, but again I have to focus here at Borussia Dortmund, because you never know, anything could happen before the end of the season.
“I’m fully fit and able to play, but until then, good vibes.”
However, Sancho admitted that there’s a chance England can win the tournament.
“I think we have a good chance,” said the youngster.
“We have a host of great players. I’m sure we’ll all know we have a good chance because we have our matches in England, so it’s a huge advantage for us.
“We all know we have to do well in front of our fans.”
England begin their Euro 2020 campaign on Sunday June 14th against Croatia.
They’ll next play the eventual winner of the Play-off Group C – which will either be Scotland, Norway, Serbia or Israel – on Friday June 19.
Their final group stage game will be against Czech Republic, on Tuesday June 23.
