Manchester United could be without Raphael Varane for the rest of the season due to his ankle injury, MySportDab reports.
The French international was taken off at half time in the Europa League game against Sevilla at Old Trafford.
United were winning 2-0 but conceded two late own goals to draw 2-2 after Varane and Martinez were taken off.
Varane missed the second leg and also the club’s FA Cup Semi-final match yesterday against Brightonon.
According to the Mirror, The Frenchman might miss the next six weeks of football after scans on his ankle showed swellings.
If he misses six weeks then, he can’t play again for Manchester United this season as their final league game is on May 28.
This is another massive blow to manager Erik ten Hag, who is still determined to win the FA Cup, finish in the top four and qualify Champions League football.
Varane’s absence will be felt after Lisandro Martinez was also ruled out for the rest of this season.
Ten Hag must now Harry Maguire and Victor Lindelof or play natural left back Luke Shaw out of position.
But United’s medical staffs are hopeful Varane could return for the FA Cup final on June 3.
Before the Wembley match against Brighton, Ten Hag confirmed that several players were playing for their futures at the club.
He said: ‘Yes, we are always playing for our futures, as players. Every game is a test, and you have to earn the right to wear the shirt. Also for me as the manager, we are in the same boat.
‘However, I think we have made some progress. We have the experience now but there’s still a way to go. So we have to step up.’
