Manchester United are preparing for Casemiro’s imminent exit with the Brazilian set to leave the club at the end of the season, MySportDab reports.
Casemiro announced his decision to call it a quit at the Old Trafford club in a viral social media post, thanking United fans and the club’s hierarchy for their support.
To some extent, this announcement didn’t come as a surprise as sources close to the United hierarchy disclosed the club is unwavering in their resolve to part ways with the player when his contract expires.
He has made 72 Premier League appearances for United, scoring seven goals plus five assists. Away from his previous misfortunes, he has established himself as a priority midfield option and is having his best time with United.
However, it is understood that this is unlikely to turn things around, as per his future at the club.
Now, according to the Mirror, United are exploring alternatives to replace him in the middle of the park, with Newcastle star Sandro Tonali emerging as a priority option.
Further details of the report claim Tonali’s camp is aware of United’s interest in the player open to switching to the Old Trafford club, but on the condition of being a regular in the starting lineup and the team qualifying for the Champions League next season.
He is still contracted to Newcastle United till 2029, but the club are open to sanctioning his transfer exit should United submit a tempting offer to the tune of £100m.
The Italian sensation has yet to find the net in his 25 Premier League appearances for the Magpies this season, but is renowned for his composure, passing, and playmaking abilities.
