After an inconsistent start to the competition, Manchester City have rounded off their 2025–26 Champions League league-phase on a high, defeating Turkish champions Galatasaray to finish in the top eight, sealing their place in the round of 16 of the competition, MySportDab reports.

The Premier League giants went into the hand as strong favorites, but need not leave anything for chance against a free-scoring Galatasaray.

They got off in the front foot, dominating proceedings and looking set to see off the visiting Turkish giants.

It wasn’t long before they sent the home crowd into wild jubilation as attacking sensation Erling Haaland opened the scoring in the 11th minute, thanks to Jeremy Doku’s assist.

Galatasaray did little, showing no sign of a possible comeback after conceding as the home side continued staying atop proceedings.

A minute before the half hour, Guardiola’s charges made their dominance count again, finding their second of the night to close in on victory.

Rayan Cherki got it for the Etihad outfit, latching on Jeremy Doku’s second assist to make it 2–0 – a lead they took into the break.

In the second half, Galatasaray made progress in containing their hosts, wielding possession and improving in the attack.

However, they were effectively tamed by City’s solid backline and were vulnerable under City’s incessant offensives.

Both sides couldn’t record a breakthrough in the second half and City’s two early goals in the first 45 proved enough to secure the maximum three points for the Premier League side.

That result has seen them secure the final spot in the top eight for their automatic ticket to the round of 16.
