Paris Saint-Germain Feminines have completed the signing of Nigeria captain Rasheedat Ajibade on a free transfer, the club confirmed on Tuesday. The 25-year-old forward penned a contract until June 2027, becoming the sixth Nigerian footballer to represent the French giants, MySportDab Reports.

Ajibade arrives in Paris just weeks after ending her four-and-a-half-year stay with Atlético Madrid, where she won the Copa de la Reina and the Supercopa de España. She will now link up with compatriot Jennifer Echegini, who also joined PSG earlier this year.

Her move places her in elite company, following in the footsteps of fellow Nigerians Nicole Payne, Austin Jay-Jay Okocha, Godwin Okpara, and Bartholomew Ogbeche, all of whom previously wore PSG colours.

Ajibade’s career began at Robo Queens in Lagos, where she quickly established herself as one of the brightest stars in the Nigeria Women’s Premier League. In 2017, she scored eight goals to help her side avoid relegation and was named Player of the Season.

The following year, she moved to Norwegian side Avaldsnes, where she netted 12 times in 39 appearances before Atlético came calling in 2020.

Beyond her club achievements, Ajibade has been a pivotal figure for Nigeria on the international stage. She captained the country’s U-17 team at the 2016 World Cup, featured at U-20 level, and has since blossomed into a leader for the Super Falcons.

She won the Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) in 2018 and finished as the tournament’s top scorer in 2022, where she also made the best XI. Just last month, she inspired Nigeria to a record-extending 10th continental crown, earning Player of the Tournament honours.

Renowned for her tireless work rate, creativity, and ability to play across the forward line, Ajibade brings a blend of leadership and attacking flair to PSG. The club hopes her arrival will strengthen their push to reclaim the Division 1 Féminine title from long-time rivals Olympique Lyonnais.

To date, Ajibade has scored 20 goals in 38 appearances for Nigeria and is widely regarded as one of Africa’s most complete attacking players.
