Milan Pulls Plug on Boniface Move After Failing Medical

AC Milan have reportedly abandoned their move for Nigerian striker Victor Boniface after medical examinations revealed concerns over the player’s long-term fitness, MySportDab Reports.

The 24-year-old Bayer Leverkusen forward was in Milan earlier this week to undergo tests ahead of a proposed loan deal between the two clubs.

However, according to Kicker, Milan’s medical team detected irregularities in Boniface’s right knee, leading the Serie A giants to call off the transfer despite an agreement already being in place.

Boniface’s injury history appears to have played a major role in Milan’s decision. The Nigerian international suffered cruciate ligament tears in both 2019 and 2020, and earlier this year endured a lengthy spell on the sidelines with an adductor problem. He has struggled to regain full form, starting just four of Leverkusen’s 16 Bundesliga matches in 2025.

While the Rossoneri are unlikely to revive the deal, the report suggests a slim possibility of reconsideration if Milan fail to secure an alternative attacking option before the transfer deadline.

Boniface, who remains under contract with Leverkusen until 2028, currently finds himself behind prolific Czech forward Patrik Schick in Xabi Alonso’s pecking order.

His struggles come after a breakthrough 2023/24 campaign in which he played a key role in Leverkusen’s domestic double.

This is the second collapsed transfer of the year for the forward. In January, Boniface had agreed terms with Saudi Pro League side Al Nassr, only for the deal to unexpectedly fall through at the final stages.
