Arsenal have continued to snap on the heels of Liverpool in the race for the Premier League this season following a comprehensive 4-0 away win over relegation-threatened Ipswich Town at Portman Road, MySportDab reports.
The Gunners went into the game 13 points adrift of league leaders Liverpool and needed all three points to sustain their slender hopes of winning the title.
Meanwhile, Ipswich Town went into the game hungry for a win to maintain hopes of beating the drop. Hence, the two sides met off the back of contrasting fortunes in the English top flight.
Arsenal were expected to ace the tie and they did not disappoint. Fresh from their impressive away win over Real Madrid in the Champions League quarter-finals, the Gunners took the game to their host in full force and it was not long before they took the lead.
Just 14 minutes into the match, Leandro Trossard fired the Gunners into the lead, latching on a brilliant assist by captain Martin Odegaard.
Two minutes before the half-hour, Gabriel Martinelli doubled the lead for the visitors, thanks to an assist by Mikel Merino.
Trailing by two goals, Ipswich suffered a further blow as Davis picked up a red card just a few minutes after the second goal.
Arsenal led by the two goals at the break and were looking set to secure all three points, playing with a one-man advantage.
In the second half, the Gunners continued on their dominant sail in the match. However, they were held off by the hosts until the 69th minute when Trossard bagged his brace, scoring the third goal.
Two minutes before regulation time, Ethan Nwaneri completed the rout, scoring from Zinchenko’s assist to make it 4-0.
