Arsenal claimed a hard-fought 1-0 victory over Liverpool at Anfield, thanks to Kai Havertz’s only gaol which came from the first-half of the encounter.
The result gave the London club their first Premier League win at Anfield since 2012 and strengthened their position in the title race.
Havertz scored in the 16th minute after receiving an excellent cross from Declan Rice. The Reds pushed hard for an equaliser but failed to make their chances count as their opponent defended well to secure all three points.

Arsenal were the better of both teams as the match commenced with them looking confidence and put Liverpool under pressure early on.
Both teams played at a high pace, with the visitors showing good control in midfield. The breakthrough came in the 16th minute after a mistake from goalkeeper Alisson Becker.
His attempt to play the ball out from the back gave the London club an opportunity to win possession. Martin Odegaard led the press, allowing Arsenal to recover the ball and launch a quick attack.
Bruno Guimaraes and Christos Tzolis helped move the ball forward before Rice made a run down the right side. Rice delivered a well-timed cross into the box, where Havertz arrived at the far post to finish and put them 1-0 ahead.
The host responded by increasing the pressure and sending more balls into their opponent penalty area. However, the away side defenders dealt with most of the crosses and prevented the home side from finding an immediate equaliser.
The Reds created dangerous moments as the first half continued but struggled to find the finish they needed. Florian Wirtz came close to scoring when his free-kick beat the defence and David Raya, only to strike the crossbar.
It was one of the home side best opportunities to get back into the game. Alexander Isak came close but also missed chances to level the score in the encounter.
On another occasion, Raya reacted well to stop Isak after the host threatened from a corner. Alexis Mac Allister had an opportunity with a header but sent his effort over the crossbar.
The host continued to attack, but their opponent remained organised and protected their narrow lead as play continued at Anfield Stadium.
Liverpool also appealed for a penalty after Isak appeared to have his shirt pulled by Jurrien Timber inside the box. The referee did not award a spot-kick or do much about the situation.
Arsenal had opportunities to extend their advantage, with Rice testing Alisson and the visitors creating further openings on the counterattack.
Despite the host’s pressure, the Premier League Champions went into half-time with a 1-0 lead. Liverpool continued to push forward after the break, hoping to find a way past Arsenal’s defence.
Isak missed another opportunity when he fired over from a tight angle after a pass from Milos Kerkez. The reds tried to create openings through quick attacks and crosses, but the Gunners continued to clear the danger.
Both managers made substitutions as the match progressed. The host brought on Dominik Szoboszlai to add energy to midfield and later introduced Rio Ngumoha in an attempt to improve their attack.
The visitors also made changes to maintain their energy and protect their advantage. They created a chance when Noni Madueke set up Tzolis, whose low effort forced Alisson to make a good save.
It was an important moment as the Premier League Champions looked to finish the match without allowing their opponent back into the contest.
The match became increasingly tense as the host searched for a late equaliser. Myles Lewis-Skelly was booked for a foul on Isak, while Madueke also received a yellow card after bringing down Bradley Barcola.
Milos Kerkez was booked for a foul on Madueke. Barcola and Mac Allister also received yellow cards during the encounter which was heavily contested by both teams.
Late in the match, Mac Allister and Timber were involved in a heated confrontation that required a VAR review. Both players were booked following the incident.

The host continued to push forward, but the Champions stood firm during the closing stages and refused to give the home side a clear route to goal.
The final whistle confirmed a 1-0 victory for Arsenal against Liverpool, with Kai Havertz’s early finish proving decisive after 90 minutes of action at Anfield Stadium.
The Reds will be disappointed after creating several opportunities without scoring. Wirtz’s free-kick hitting the crossbar and Isak’s missed chances were among the key moments that cost the home side.
For Mikel Arteta and his team, the result is a major achievement. Rice’s assist, Havertz’s finish and the team’s strong defensive display helped the Gunners secure a valuable away win.
Arsenal will take confidence from their performance as they continue their Premier League campaign, while Liverpool must improve their finishing after a frustrating afternoon at Anfield.
