Manchester United were held to a frustrating 1-1 draw by 10-man Tottenham after Dominic Solanke scored a late stunning equaliser at Old Trafford.
Bryan Mbeumo had put United ahead in the second half, but Spurs fought back to earn a point despite playing part of second half of the match with ten men.
The result was a disappointment for Michael Carrick’s side, who had a chance to claim all three points after Rodrigo Bentancur was sent off.

However, United failed to make their advantage count, allowing Spurs to leave Old Trafford with a valuable draw after 90 minutes.
The match started with both sides looking to take control, but clear chances were difficult to create. Spurs showed attacking intent, while United struggled to turn their possession into dangerous opportunities.
Senne Lammens had to remain alert after a mistake almost gave the visitors a chance to score. He recovered from the situation and made an important save to keep his team in the game.
Tottenham also had opportunities to take the lead but lacked the finishing touch. Dominic Solanke was among the players who missed chances, leaving the visitors frustrated in front of goal.
The first half ended without a goal, with neither team able to find the breakthrough. Manchester United needed more attacking quality after the break, while Spurs had to improve their finishing.
The devils finally broke the deadlock in the 73rd minute. Luke Shaw played the ball to Matheus Cunha down the left, and the Brazilian moved forward before delivering a cross into the penalty area.
Bryan Mbeumo controlled the opportunity, turned and fired past the Spurs goalkeeper to give United a 1-0 lead as the game carried on forward.
The goal brought relief to the home supporters after a difficult afternoon. United appeared to be moving towards an important victory, but the closing stages produced more drama.
Tottenham’s hopes of getting back into the match suffered another setback in the 78th minute when Rodrigo Bentancur received a red card.
The incident started when Shaw chased Bruno Fernandes’ pass. Bentancur made a dangerous challenge on the United defender, leading to an angry reaction from Shaw, who pushed the midfielder.
Bentancur then moved his head towards Shaw, sparking a confrontation involving players from both teams. Referee Stuart Attwell showed the Spurs player a straight red card.
Shaw and Jan Paul van Hecke were also booked with yellow cards following the incident. Shaw avoided a red card despite his involvement in the confrontation with the Spurs midfielder.
With Tottenham down to ten men and Manchester United leading, the home side looked well placed to secure the win. However, they failed to finish the game off.

The visitors refused to give up and found their reward in the 92nd minute. Sandro Tonali delivered a cross from the left, but Lisandro Martinez failed to clear the ball properly.
Solanke fought to win the aerial battle and headed past Lammens to make it 1-1. The goal stunned the home crowd and gave Tottenham a late point after 90 minutes of the encounter at Old Trafford.
Manchester United had chances to make their advantage count, with Mbeumo and Cunha among those who missed opportunities. Spurs also wasted promising chances earlier in the match, including opportunities for Solanke and other attacking players.
The 1-1 result leaves both managers searching for answers as the season progresses. Carrick will be disappointed that his team could not beat ten-man opposition after taking the lead.
For Roberto De Zerbi, the late equaliser offers some encouragement, although Spurs still need wins to improve their league position.
United must now focus on improving their finishing and managing games better when ahead. The Spurs, meanwhile, can take confidence from their late fightback.
In the end, Mbeumo’s goal was not enough for Manchester United, as Solanke’s stoppage-time header ensured the points were shared at Old Trafford against Tottenham.
