Brazil 3-0 Scotland Highlights: Vini Jr. Brace, Neymar Returns

In a display of clinical precision and attacking flair with Vinicius Junior running the show, Brazil cemented their position at the top of Group C in the 2026 FIFA World Cup, dispatching Scotland 3-0 at a vibrant Miami Stadium.

The victory, powered by a masterclass from Vinicius Junior and the emotional return of global icon Neymar, sees Carlo Ancelotti’s Seleção advance to the knockout stages with seven points from their three group encounters.

The match began with high intensity, but it was a lapse in concentration that opened the door for Brazil. In the seventh minute, Scotland’s Scott McKenna, under pressure while attempting to play out from the back, surrendered possession.

The ball fell perfectly for Rayan, who immediately released Vinicius Junior. With typical composure, the Real Madrid forward rounded goalkeeper Angus Gunn and slotted home to give the five-time world champions an early 1-0 advantage.

For Scotland, the task became monumental against a side that thrives on momentum. While they sought to respond, their defensive errors were ruthlessly exploited.

Brazil’s dominance was nearly absolute, with Vinícius finding the net again in the 22nd minute, only for a lengthy VAR review to chalk the goal off for a foul during the build-up.

Despite the setback of the disallowed goal, Brazil remained relentless. As the first half drew to a close, deep into stoppage time, Vinícius struck again.

Capitalizing on a miscommunication between Gunn and Nathan Patterson, the forward rose highest to head home, doubling Brazil’s lead and effectively stifling any hope of a Scottish comeback before the halftime whistle.

Scotland emerged for the second half with renewed energy, and a spectacular strike from Scott McTominay, who had been a constant threat forced a brilliant fingertip save from Alisson Becker.

However, Brazil’s clinical nature proved the difference. On the hour mark, Bruno Guimarães threaded an exquisite ball through the Scottish defensive line.

Matheus Cunha, timing his run perfectly to stay onside, took a deft first touch before firing an emphatic strike past Gunn to seal the scoreline at 3-0.

The most anticipated moment of the night, however, came late in the proceedings. With the result secured, Neymar Jr. stepped onto the pitch for his first international appearance in nearly three years.

The capacity crowd of 64,478 at Miami Stadium erupted, acknowledging a significant milestone in Brazil’s campaign.

Meanwhile, there was nothing much that happened in the match as Brazil finished with a 3-0 victory against Scotland after 90 minutes.

The result leaves Scotland’s future in the tournament in a precarious position. Finishing the group stage with three points, Steve Clarke’s side must now wait for the conclusion of other group fixtures to determine if they can progress as one of the best third-placed teams.

For Brazil, the path is clear. Having finished unbeaten in Group C, they head to Houston, Texas, for a Round of 32 clash on June 29, where they will face the runners-up of Group F.

Under Ancelotti, the team has shown a growing solidity and a more disciplined approach to their attacking play, making them a formidable prospect for any opponent in the knockout phase.
