The Ivory Coast national team pulled off a remarkable and massive 2–1 victory against France in a high-stakes international friendly match ahead of the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

Amad Diallo beauty was the difference which saw the European giant failed to claim victory despite their huge advantage.

It was a full turnout at the Stadium as the two sides took to the pitch, both looking to sharpen their tactical setups ahead of upcoming major tournaments.

France, as expected, dominated much of the early possession, utilizing the creative talents of Kylian Mbappé and Michael Olise to probe the Ivorian defensive line.

For much of the first half, the game was a tactical chess match. The Ivorian defense, anchored by a disciplined unit, effectively limited the space for French attackers.

Just as it seemed the teams would head into the break locked in a stalemate, the deadlock was finally broken.

In the 44th minute, Rayan Cherki capitalized on a golden opportunity, finding the back of the net to give Les Bleus a 1–0 lead just before halftime.

The second half began with a different energy. The Ivory Coast coaching staff made proactive adjustments, signaling their intent to fight for a result.

Their persistence was rewarded in the 52nd minute when Guéla Doué fired home a clinical equalizer, silencing the home crowd and shifting the momentum firmly in favor of the visitors.

The goal seemed to rattle the French side, who struggled to regain their initial composure. The match turned into an end-to-end battle, with both managers looking to their benches to inject fresh legs and new ideas.

France introduced veteran N’Golo Kanté and striker Jean-Philippe Mateta in an attempt to stabilize the midfield and reclaim the lead, but the Ivorian defensive block remained resolute.

As the clock ticked toward the final whistle, the game reached a boiling point. Both teams pushed for a winner, leading to frantic transitions and high-intensity play.

The breakthrough finally arrived in the 83rd minute. In a moment of pure magic, Amad Diallo broke free and coolly slotted the ball past the French goalkeeper, putting the Ivory Coast ahead 2–1.

The final minutes were a test of endurance and nerves for the visitors. France surged forward, throwing everything into the attack to salvage a draw, but the Ivorian defense held firm under immense pressure.

When the final whistle blew, the visitors celebrated a historic and hard-earned victory which is a shocker to World football with few days to the World Cup.

This result serves as a massive confidence booster for the Ivory Coast, demonstrating their ability to execute a game plan against one of the world’s elite teams.

For France, while the loss in a friendly match is not catastrophic, it provides valuable data for the coaching staff to analyze defensive lapses and offensive fluidity.

As both teams look toward their future competitive fixtures, the events of this June evening will undoubtedly be remembered as a night where the underdog’s determination overcame the odds.

The resilience shown by the Ivory Coast is a testament to the growth and evolving strength of the team, leaving fans and pundits alike eager to see how they will fare in the competitive months to come.

Amad Diallo goal which hammered the lost to France, it will go a long way in sounding a warning to other big nations that the World Cup won’t be an easy one after Morocco made it into the final four during 2022.
