Top-rated Tottenham Hotspur youngster has emerged as a priority midfield target for Arsenal and Chelsea as both clubs look to reinforce their midfield for next season.

The London rivals remain top of the radar of clubs ready for critical squad shifts and preparations are already in top gear at both clubs for the summer transfer market, per close sources.

Leading the list of their priority midfield targets is fast-rising Tottenham playmaker, Lucas Bergvall. The Swedish youngster, 20, has been a standout performer for the Lilywhites this season despite the latter’s struggles in the English top flight.

At 20, he has racked up 47 Premier League appearances for the club across two seasons, scoring one goal plus four assists since joining from Swedish club Djurgården in 2024.

According to close sources, Tottenham Hotspur considers Bergvall ‘unsellable,’ given his rapid development and promising career prospects.

The midfield sensation penned down a lucrative new six-year contract with Tottenham Hotspur in 2025, running till 2031.

Despite recent changes in the club’s dugout, he has remained a key player in Lilywhites’ fold, underlining his unbeatable qualities and relevance in the team but his future with them still remains uncertain.

Interestingly, Spurs are reportedly top of their finances despite their declining sporting fortunes and have the wherewithal to keep Bergvall on improved new terms amid surging interest by rivals.

However, the prospects of dropping into the English second tier this season and potential instability that may follow will leave them in a difficult position trying to keep their best players.

Arsenal and Chelsea are reportedly monitoring the situation with Bergvall and are ready for a shock move for the youngster in the summer to boost their midfield ranks.

It is yet to be ascertained whether the youngster will be open to a new challenge away from Tottenham Hotspur, should the latter fail to beat the drop.

He reportedly turned down a move to Barcelona in La Liga before joining Tottenham Hotspur as he wanted to continue his career in the Premier League.

The 20-year-old is expected to be another transfer top shot this summer with other top European clubs also on his trail, while Tottenham insist on keeping him.

Barcelona are reportedly still in the race for the attacker, including Juventus, and Real Madrid, but Chelsea and Arsenal are on the front foot with the Stockholm-born sensation likely to prefer a switch to another Premier League side in an event of a Tottenham exit.
