Just when the dust on Rodrygo’s future at Real Madrid appeared to have settled, a new plot twist to the whole Brazilian’s Los Blancos exit saga has emerged, MySportDab reports.
Rodrygo had his future at Real Madrid wrapped in uncertainty following a sudden downturn in his fortunes at the club at the instance of Xabi Alonso’s emergence as the club’s manager.
He suffered a sudden blackout, failing to make it to the Spaniard and former Bayer Leverkusen manager’s regular starting XI for the Los Blancos.
Cutting a frustrated figure on the bench at the start of the season and mostly reduced to cameos off it, close sources reveal the Brazilian attacking sensation was considering a future away from the La Liga giants.
Things got worse for Rodrygo as new signing Franco Mastantuono immediately got the nod from Alonso as preferred forward after arriving from River Plate in the summer.
This further pushed Rodrygo down the pecking order, further intensifying reports of his expected Real Madrid exit.
However, towards the close of 2025, the 25-year-old’s struggles for a place in Alonso’s starting XI began to ease.
He has started the last three matches and showed his class with a goal plus three assists. This includes a brace of assists in the team’s 5–1 mauling of Real Betis last week.
Despite this recent turnaround, Spanish outlet, Sport, reports Rodrygo is still eyeing a move away from Real Madrid with two years left on his deal.
The report adds he is in talks with elite agents and transfer brokers in the sport to facilitate his move away from Real Madrid next summer.
Real Madrid are reportedly open to his transfer exit, but not in the January transfer window with key forward Mbappe nursing a knee injury.
