The Pharaohs of Egypt booked their qualifications for the quarter final after beating Benin 3-1 in extra time, MySportDab reports.
It wasn’t an easy showdown for both teams but only one one was able to make it through into the AFCON 2025 quarterfinals.
First Half Report
The match was filled with so much pace from both ends as they looked well organized and ready to break down each other.
There was enough tactical work done by both managers who came prepared the get the needed victory to qualify for the next round.
They could score any goal as the match carried on before the first half came to a conclusion with the scoreline staying 0-0.
Second Half Report
The goals started coming in the second half after Marwan Attia made it 1-0 with assist from Hany. The goal was scored in the 69th minute.
More action was witnessed on the pitch before Jodel Dossou was able to level things to 1-1 with his goal in the 83rd minute to send things to extra time.
Extra Time Report
Both national teams carried on with the match after holding themselves to a 1-1 draw after 90 minute.
Ibrahim 97th minute goal was enough to make sure the Egyptian get themselves back in the lead 2-1 as the match progressed forward.
Mohamed Salah scored in the additional time to make sure Egypt qualifies for the next round with a 3-1 victory against Benin.
