Tyson Fury has sent his condolences following a tragic car accident in Nigeria that claimed the lives of two close members of Anthony Joshua’s team and left the former heavyweight world champion injured, MySportDab Reports.

The crash occurred on Monday morning along the Lagos–Ibadan Expressway in southwestern Nigeria while Joshua was travelling with members of his entourage.

The boxer’s promoter confirmed that long-time associates Sina Ghami and Latif Ayodele were killed in the incident, while Joshua was taken to hospital for medical checks and treatment.

Fury, who has been linked with a potential return from retirement to face Joshua in a highly anticipated ‘Battle of Britain’ showdown, expressed his sympathy via Instagram. “This is so sad. May God give them a good bed in heaven,” the former WBC champion wrote. Earlier, Fury had fuelled speculation about a comeback by posting an image of himself and family members wearing shirts reading “I’m back.”

Joshua, a British national of Nigerian heritage, had recently called out Fury after recording a sixth-round knockout victory over Jake Paul in a Netflix-backed bout in Miami.

However, the tragic events are expected to delay any immediate talks over a potential mega-fight.

Tributes also poured in from across the boxing world. Jake Paul wrote on X: “Life is much more important than boxing.

I am praying for the lost lives, AJ and anyone impacted by today’s unfortunate accident.” Former heavyweight champion Wladimir Klitschko, whom Joshua famously defeated in 2017, described the Briton as a “true class act” and offered his support during the difficult time.

Images circulating online showed Joshua seated inside the damaged vehicle, surrounded by shattered glass. His promoter later confirmed he was in a stable condition and remains under observation.

Police said the accident occurred around 11:00am local time in Makun, with Nigeria’s Federal Road Safety Corps suggesting excessive speed and an overtaking manoeuvre led to the crash. A witness disputed claims that the truck involved was stationary.

Ayodele, known as Latz, was Joshua’s personal trainer, while Ghami served as his strength and conditioning coach. Joshua frequently visits Nigeria, where his family originates.
