Jamie Carragher has branded Mohamed Salah’s recent comments about Liverpool and head coach Arne Slot as “a disgrace,” accusing the Egyptian forward of deliberately causing unrest during a fragile moment for the club, MySportDab Reports.

Salah was dropped from Liverpool’s squad following his bombshell post-match interview after the Reds’ chaotic 3–3 draw with Leeds United, in which he claimed his relationship with Slot had completely broken down and alleged the club had “thrown him under the bus” by repeatedly benching him.

Liverpool have now won just two of their last 10 league matches and sit outside the Champions League places.

Speaking on Monday Night Football, former Liverpool defender Carragher suggested Salah’s remarks were carefully calculated rather than emotional.

He claimed the forward’s rare media appearances are often coordinated to “cause maximum damage” and strengthen his personal position, accusing Salah of choosing the worst possible moment in Liverpool’s season to publicly challenge the manager.

Carragher fears Salah’s actions were designed to put pressure on Slot, potentially forcing the club’s hand regarding the Dutchman’s future. However, despite his criticism, Carragher admitted he hopes Salah has not played his last game for the club, calling him “one of the greatest players we’ve ever had.”

The 31-year-old did not travel for Liverpool’s Champions League clash with Inter Milan and has hinted that Saturday’s match against Brighton could be his farewell appearance before departing for the Africa Cup of Nations with Egypt.

With the January transfer window approaching, uncertainty continues to grow around his future.

Carragher also urged Salah to focus less on individual achievements and more on supporting struggling teammates, naming Florian Wirtz and Alexander Isak.

He pointed out that Salah’s rise to superstardom came at Liverpool and argued that collective success, not personal milestones, defines greatness.

Liverpool manager Arne Slot admitted he was “surprised” by Salah’s comments and insisted he had no prior indication their relationship had deteriorated. Slot confirmed their only recent communication was a brief conversation informing Salah he would not be travelling to Italy.

While Slot refused to rule out Salah’s return, he acknowledged the situation remains unclear. With tensions high and the team under pressure, the coming days could prove decisive for both Salah and Liverpool’s future direction.
