Ashleigh Plumptre was on target as the Super Falcons of Nigeria draw Benin 1-1 to finish 3-1 on aggregate, MySportDab reports.
The WAFCON Champions sealed their place for the upcoming competition which they will fight to defend their title.
First Half Report
It was decent between both teams from the kickoff with all eyes mostly on the Super Falcons who had all the advantage.
The Benin women national team did well enough to hold their ground without conceding after 10 minutes of action.
However, Ashleigh Plumptre was able to break the deadlock with a header in the 12th minute following a lovely cross from Esther Okoronkwo.
It was 1-0 in favor of the Nigeria Women national team who carried on pressing for more until the first half came to an end.
Second Half Report
The second half was a good one for the home team who had total control of everything that was going on.
The visitors struggled all through as they couldn’t match the quality they were up against. The visitors pulled back level in the 62nd minutes which made it 1-1.
It finished with a 1-1 result leaving aggregate to end with 3-1 against Benin. The draw was enough to ensure the Nigeria Super Falcons qualifies for WAFCON 2026 tournament.
