Tuchel Challenges Rashford to Fulfil His Potential: “He Can Be One of the Best in the World”

England manager Thomas Tuchel has backed Marcus Rashford to become one of the best players in the world — but warned the Barcelona forward not to end his career wondering “what could have been” MySportDab Reports.

Rashford, currently on a season-long loan from Manchester United, has made an impressive start to life in La Liga, contributing three goals and four assists in 10 appearances across all competitions for Hansi Flick’s Barcelona. His seven goal involvements are the most by any player in the squad this season.

The 27-year-old’s revival follows a strong six-month spell at Aston Villa last season, where he notched four goals and five assists, earning a recall to the England national team under Tuchel earlier this year.

“It’s not a question of talent,” Tuchel told reporters. “It’s about whether he can consistently prove himself at club and international level. He has everything — pace, power, finishing, heading — there are no limits. But potential is a dangerous word in elite sports. You have to deliver it week in, week out.”

Tuchel warned that Rashford, despite his remarkable ability, must channel his focus and consistency to avoid regrets later in his career. “He can be one of the best in the world,” the German added. “But if he doesn’t find consistency, he will look back in 10 years and be disappointed about what could have been.”

Rashford featured off the bench in England’s 3–0 friendly win over Wales last Thursday and could start against Latvia in Tuesday’s World Cup qualifier, where victory would seal England’s place at next summer’s tournament.

The Manchester-born forward recently scored his 18th international goal in a 5–0 win over Serbia, nearly two years after his last strike for the Three Lions.

After falling out of favour at United under Ruben Amorim, who questioned his work rate in training, Rashford appears determined to rebuild his reputation abroad.

With Tuchel’s backing and renewed confidence, the England international looks set on proving that his best years are still ahead.
