Reigning Barclay’s WSL Champions Chelsea opened the new season with a 2-1 victory against Manchester City at Stamford Bridge, MySportDab reports.
Goals from Aggie Beaver Jones and Maika Hamano ensured the Blues commenced the 2025/2026 season with a wonderful victory.
First Half Report
Both teams came in with a lot of preparations from their preseason which was a good one and had positive results.
It was a calm game which City had an early opportunity which wasn’t good enough to count as a goal for them.
The Blues had their moments despite struggling to get themselves into the match which saw them being pushed back a lot.
A goal from Aggie Beaver Jones in the 31st minute made sure Chelsea Women took a 1-0 lead which was assisted by new signing Ellen Carpenter.
It was a fine first half which ended with the Champions staying ahead 1-0 as they went inside for the break after a competitive 45 minutes.
Second Half Report
The second half saw both teams had their moments of celebration which also saw players being forced out due to injuries and fatigue.
Maika Hamano doubled the advantage for the Blues after her wonderful finish in the 64th minute which made it 2-0.
The visitors pulled one goal back in the 71st minutes after Niamh Charles headed inside the net as an own-goal which made it 2-1.
Chelsea Women maintained their lead and ended up claiming a 2-1 victory against Manchester City after 90 minute to claim three points.
