Memphis Depay scored a brace as Netherlands claimed a shaky 2-3 victory against Lithuania, MySportDab reports.
The match wasn’t a good one at all standards for Ronald Koeman and his side who struggled against a lower ranked country.
First Half Report
It was total dominance from the Netherlands who controlled play before Memphis Depay scored the opener in the 11th minute which made it 0-1.
Cody Gakpo provided the assist before Quinten Timber doubled the advantage in the 33rd minute as things became 0-2.
The home side started off their comeback after a solid finish from Gineitis which made sure it was 1-2 in the 36th minute of action.
Another goal from Girdvainis leveled things 2-2 in the 43rd minute as there was nothing more to play in the first half.
Both teams were in control after 45 minutes of action which they had answers for what their opponent produced.
Second Half Report
There was enough to play with both teams on level terms after a first half which produced four goals between both teams.
Lithuania were good enough as they showed courage against a side who fielded more quality players over theirs.
Memphis Depay restored the lead once again after a stunner in the 64th minute which was assisted by Denzel Dumpfries to make sure it was 2-3.
Netherlands held on fine and narrowly escaped with a 2-3 victory against Lithuania who gave them a good run for their points after 90 minute.
