Max Verstappen produced a scintillating performance at Monza on Sunday, claiming victory at the Italian Grand Prix in what became the fastest race in Formula 1 history, MySportDab Reports.
The Red Bull driver, starting from pole, fended off McLaren’s Lando Norris and Oscar Piastri to secure just his third win of the season, halting McLaren’s dominance in 2025.
Verstappen, who had already set the fastest-ever F1 lap in Saturday’s qualifying, completed the race in one hour, 13 minutes, and 24.325 seconds.
A bold overtake on Norris at the chicane on lap four proved decisive, allowing him to pull clear and control proceedings from the front.
“It was really enjoyable,” said Verstappen. “We pitted at the right time, and with the hard tyres at the end I could push a bit more. It was a fantastic execution by everyone.”
Despite Verstappen’s triumph, Piastri remains firmly in control of the championship. The Australian leads by 94 points after finishing third, while Norris sits 31 points behind his teammate following a late team-ordered swap to salvage second place.
Ferrari endured a frustrating home race, with Charles Leclerc finishing fourth and Lewis Hamilton fighting back from 10th on the grid to claim sixth.
George Russell held off his former Mercedes teammate to secure fifth.
The win, Verstappen’s second in Italy this year after victory in Imola, highlights Red Bull’s resilience in a season largely controlled by McLaren, who have won all but four races.
McLaren’s slow pit stop cost Norris dearly, echoing his Dutch GP misfortune, but Verstappen’s pace made the result inevitable.
As the title fight remains between Piastri and Norris, Verstappen’s masterclass at Monza served as a reminder of his brilliance — even in a season where the crown looks beyond reach.
