Manchester United have announced a club-record revenue of £666.5 million ($909.5m) for the 2024–25 financial year, though the balance sheet still shows a net loss of £33 million, MySportDab Reports.
The figure represents a major improvement on the previous campaign’s £113.2m net loss, and offers encouragement as United work to remain compliant with the Premier League’s Profit and Sustainability Rules (PSR).
Revenue growth was driven by a 10% rise in commercial income and a 17% increase in matchday earnings compared to 2023–24. Broadcasting income, however, fell by 22% due to the club competing in the Europa League instead of the Champions League.
Remarkably, the financial results come on the back of United’s worst league finish in 51 years, as they slumped to 15th in the Premier League amid sweeping structural and leadership changes at Old Trafford.
“To have generated record revenues during such a challenging year for the club demonstrates the resilience which is a hallmark of Manchester United,” said CEO Omar Berrada. He added that the club’s strong commercial performance and cost-cutting measures offer “significant potential for improved financial performance” while underlining that “success on the pitch” remains the top priority.
Operating expenses were reduced by nearly £35m but still totalled £733.6m, with wages down 14%. The cost of amortisation stood at £196.4m, while the club’s unamortised transfer fee obligations were £537.3m.
Exceptional costs of £36.6m were also recorded, largely due to the dismissal of Erik ten Hag and his coaching staff last October.
Looking ahead, United project revenues of £640m–£660m for the 2025–26 season despite having no income guaranteed from UEFA competitions.
