Alexander Isak was on target as Liverpool beat Southampton 2-1 to qualify for Carabao Cup next round, MySportDab reports.
It was a good fight from the Championship side who did not make it easy for the Premier League Champions.
First Half Report
Both teams came prepared for the Carabao Cup match which they needed to make sure they claimed the victory.
Arne Slot side started so well by dominating play and created opportunities which they failed to convert.
The match opened up a bit for both teams who had their moments, but nothing came out of all the opportunities that was created.
Alexander Isak scored in the 43rd in with an assist from Federico Cheisa which made sure the first half ended with a 1-0 lead.
Second Half Report
The second half saw the tempo changed a bit with both teams looked more aggressive with their pushing forward.
The visitors did well enough to hold on for as long as they could before Charles pulled them level 1-1 with a wonderful goal in the 76th minute.
Hugo Ekitike restored the advantage with his goal in the 85th minute before he was shown a red card after a second yellow leaving things 2-1.
Liverpool scaled through with a 2-1 victory against Southampton which put them into the next round of the Carabao Cup.
