Gabriel Martinelli and Leandro Trossard scored as Arsenal claimed a narrow 0-2 victory against Athletic Bilbao in their Champions League opening game, MySportDab reports.
The game was a strong one between both teams who couldn’t make anything much with them holding each other after 45 minutes.
First Half Report
It was a good game plan for both managers despite them not seeing any result from what they put out on the pitch.
Athletic Bilbao were solid on their end which many never believed they would due to how the odds were unfavorable to them.
The match carried on with Arsenal creating more of the opportunities due to them seeing more of the ball while going forward.
However, the first half came to an end with the scoreline staying 0-0 despite all everything as Viktor Gyokeres was caught bleeding at some point.
Second Half Report
There were some little changes which both managers had to make to ensure their team press more for something tangible.
The possession was still favorable to the Premier League side as they kept on knocking with numerous opportunities.
Gabriel Martinelli was able to give the London club the lead after a stunner which came in the 72nd minute with assist from Trossard that made it 0-1.
Leandro Trossard doubled the advantage in the 87th minute through a beauty of a finish that was assisted by Martinelli which made things 0-2.
Arsenal ended the match claiming a 0-2 victory against Athletic Bilbao which gave them three points to start off their UEFA Champions League campaign.
