Novak Djokovic delivered another reminder of his enduring brilliance at Flushing Meadows on Tuesday, defeating American fourth seed Taylor Fritz 6-3, 7-5, 3-6, 6-4 to advance to the US Open semi-finals, MySportDab Reports.

The 38-year-old Serbian, who is chasing a record 25th Grand Slam crown, will now face Spanish sensation Carlos Alcaraz in a blockbuster last-four clash.

Playing under the lights of Arthur Ashe Stadium, Djokovic absorbed heavy pressure from Fritz in a gripping three-hour, 24-minute contest. The American had multiple chances to turn the tide but converted just two of 13 break points, a statistic that ultimately cost him dearly.

Fritz squandered five break points in the opening set that could have put him 5-4 ahead, only for Djokovic to seize control and close out the set.

In the second, Fritz broke back to level at 5-5 but immediately surrendered his serve, allowing Djokovic to establish a two-set lead.

The American raised his game in the third set, breaking twice to extend the match, but a composed Djokovic regrouped in the fourth and sealed victory when Fritz double-faulted on match point.

“In this kind of match a few points decide the winner,” Djokovic said. “I was fortunate to save some key break points in the second set. For much of the second and third sets, he was the better player.”

Djokovic’s victory sets the stage for a mouthwatering semi-final against 22-year-old Alcaraz, who has stormed through the draw in superb form. Their clash promises to be the highlight of the tournament.
